I write my Netaji prognosis to Baba

Baba’s letter in the name of Ramen Roy received as below. Watch address with degrees that is unique habit of Baba and Netaji.

On behalf of the Shaulmari Ashram authorities I am requesting you to inform me at your earliest convenience how much money in cash and kind you had given to the Shaulmari Ashram? As the accounts about the matter are not available due to mismanagement of those who were in charge of money, I have been compelled to write to you to get this information. Of course, it may take yet about a year or so to repay the money to you. But we have to keep the accounts ready so that as soon as the arrangement for money is made, not a day is lost in repayment.

Ramendra Kumar Roy

P.S. We shall feel obliged if you also inform us the amount to be paid as interest up to February 1974

4/1/1974:

Shri Baba’s dictations in the name of Ramen Roy indicated that I should rush to see him. However I purposely delayed it. I was confident since 1970 that I could reestablish contact with Baba any day but avoided wallowing in my mental, physical, and financial misery. I sent the following letter revealing truth to Him through Ramen Roy.

‘Om’

To

Mr.Ramen Roy

37, South Kumarpara Lane,

Calcutta-42

Dear Mr. Roy,

It seems being elder you had had the privilege to write a letter to me with all curtness devoid of formalities. However, being younger, in a routine formality I have addressed you ‘dear’. Please do not take ill of it and shirk it off as a tribal taboo.

I received your both letters. First dated 14/5/73 and other dated nil demanding the account in cash and kind. I pondered over a lot about reply and preferred a period of quiescence, as silence is virtue.

However, with the dawn of New Year, with great hesitation, I decided to submit balance sheet of my account as queried by you. Of course, this is a very queer balance sheet. Perhaps this is going to be my last letter to you or any inmate of the Ashram.

I wish to put the balance sheet in two sections, viz. Cerdit and Debit side.

Credit Side

1. After reading ‘Hero and Hero Worship’ of Carlyle in my college days, I chose Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose as my Hero and Supreme ideal. I read number of books on him and by him. The end of Netaji remained mystery and enigma to me as it is to the world today. I being a research minded student oriented my attention and energy to disentangle the labyrinth of mystery of my favourite hero.

2. I stumbled upon a news item stating that Shri H.V.Kamath of Forward Block had been to Vienna and after dinner with Mrs.Bose, former Miss Emilie Schenkl, he learnt from her that Netaji was alive somewhere in the Himalayas.

This appealed to reason and logic after analyzing the mystic trend of Netaji’s life in childhood.

3. In 1962, some time after Pooja Festival, I read a detailed article of Late Acharya P.K.Atre, then editor of sensational newspaper Maratha. The article was about his visit to Shaulmari Ashram to ascertain whether His Holiness was Subhash Chandra Bose. The article contained statements of Uttamchand Malhotra and others. Mr. Atre was denied audience with His Holiness.

I put two and two together and by combining credit entry No.2 and No.3 came to conclusion that this end must be searched and researched thoroughly.

I had been to Late P.K.Atre and we discussed the issue for a long time. He dissuaded me from going to Ashram in view of his personal experience at Ashram where he was denied ‘Darshan’. Ultimately seeing my persistent attitude he wished me good luck and gave some valuable tips regarding geography of the Ashram.

I cannot forget this valuable meeting as I remember the same night Lal Bahadur Shastri met sad demise at Tashkand.

4. After that I wrote a letter to Shaulmari Ashram for ‘Darshan’ of His Holiness Saradanandaji. I got the reply that I should send two copies of my photographs. However there was no reply in spite of complying with the necessary requisites. One summer I was typing a reminder to the Ashram and like a bolt from blue there was Providential help. Instead of The Nagpur Times, the hawker accidentally threw The Hitavada before me. On the front page there was a window with title ‘Shaulmari Ashram a Hot Bed of Spies’. I referred this news in my letter to Ashram.

5. To my great joy and surprise I received a long telegram from the Ashram and that set the ball rolling. When I reached the Ashram India’s war with Pakistan was on. I deeply studied and was well prepared to ascertain whether His Holiness had similarity with Netaji. Mr. Bonde and Mr. Dammani of my town were already there for ‘Darshan’.

6. I was very eager to verify points, which I jotted after analyzing life and history of Netaji. Had there not been preliminary, positive and vital confirmation to my credit, the trip to Ashram would have been my first and last.

The following confirmation I got to my credit after verifying physical characteristics, psychological, social, and political thoughts of His Holiness to whom I put most casual questions but in reality they were for acid test. I received positive response.

7. The earning of first Darshan in first visit:

a)     The gross estimate of Netaji’s age tallied.

b)     The examined physical features in Netaji’s photograph exactly tallied. The teeth are seen only when Baba gives hearty laughter. They are small and reddish in a row like seeds of ‘Anar’. (Pomegranate)

c)     The growth of beard on face tallied with Netaji’s photograph as Ziauddin Pathan.

d)     The vertical scar on left eyebrow was exactly similar to photographs of Netaji. Some books referred it due to baton charge. It is wrong. The photo on his passport shows the scar. I feel it was due to fall on steps on the first day of school. Baba told he got it during fall from a tree on stone in childhood.

e)     The curve of the tip of nose was exactly similar to Netajis photographs with side view.

f)     The horizontal depression on the forehead with swollen type of eyebrows was exactly the same.

g)     The protruded neck on broad shoulder seen in photograph at Singapore is typical one and it tallied.

h)     It was fantastic to observe squint in eye of Baba similar to that of Netaji.

i)      Netaji was called Rangakakababu at home because of red tinge of skin. It exactly tallied with Baba.

j)      At low height jet fighters flew over Ashram and all of us rushed outside by the side door of hall. I purposely left last. I took mark of Baba’s head on the vertical stilt of the door and when I left I measured the mark above my head. It came to about 5 feet 10 inched. It tallied. It was acid test.

k)     A mole below ear is referred as passport mark of Netaji. Due to beard it could not be ascertained. Later I read that it was removed

L)    I studied the palm prints of Netaji at museum of Netaji Research bureau and memorized certain prominent lines on the right palm. These lines tallied especially a big cross on the brain line and low plane of Mars. When Baba raised his outstretched palm to bless me and touch my Gita as memento the lines tallied.

m)    In initial talk I pointed that some say Anita Bose is not Netaji’s daughter. With reflex action His Holiness vehemently blurted, “At least from looks she is like Subhash Bose. Moreover he wrote a letter to his brother Sarat about it.” Even in recluse and exile he could not deny his blood and progeny.

n)     Psychology was Netaji’s favourite subject. Therefore I initiated a talk on psychology, I was astounded to see Baba’s deep knowledge of psychology, its branches, self analysis, introspection, retrospection, psychoanalysis, Freud, Jung, dream analysis, experimental psychology. I opened talk on Netaji’s subject taken for I.C.S. examination viz. Sanskrit, History. Baba had profound knowledge of Vedas, Upanishadas, Gita and Adya Shankara’s treatise and so also of world and Indian history. It confirmed my conviction.

o)     As a student Netaji would write letters to mother to purchase Sanskrit booklet. When I realised Sanskrit recitation of several shlokas (stanzas) by Baba my doubt was cleared.

p)     Baba’s chaste knowledge of English and Hindi was confirmatory test. Netaji engaged a teacher to learn Hindi.

q)     Jagganath Rao Bhonsle of INA described Netaji’s talk as typically temperamental. It exactly tallied with Baba. In argument both would raise voice at high pitch and then in motherly soft voice explain things and win the heart of opponent.

r)     An INA soldier referred to me about bullet mark on leg of Netaji. I never read it. However similar mark was there on Baba’s leg. It is my surmise that the scar was of boils formed when day and night he worked in   floodwater of North Bengal in the team of Prof. P.C. Sen. That time he formed boils.

8. The dividends in the very first audience were tremendous to my analytical mind. Gradually I was given entry in the inner circle and I had many occasions to verify various facets of Netaji’s life in Baba.

9. Like Netaji Baba had exquisite knowledge of European and Asian countries; also personal knowledge of Hitler, Tojo, Mussolini. De Valera, Garibaldi, Kitty Kurti, Kemal Ataturk. Gandhiji, Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal, Vijayalaxmi Pandit, Rajendra Prasad, Jay Prakash Narayan, Tandon, N.G. Gore, Narendra Deo, Hare Krishna Mahatab, Mahadeo Desai, Kaka Kalelkar, Niharendu Dutt Mazumdar and so may others. He would refer remotely known leaders like Brijlal Biyani, Acchut Patwardhan, Sheel Bhadra Yagi, Mahavir Tyagi, Narendra Deo, Dr. Lohia, Prof.Ranga, H.V.Kamath, Prem Bhatia, P.K.Atre, and Niharendu Dutt Mazumdar. Tusharkanti Ghosh. Columnist Altaf Hussain and Royjee, biographer Louis Fisher.

Both Netaji and Baba revered Buddha, Christ, Ramkrishna Deo, Swami Vivekananda, Bhagvat Gita, Shivaji, and Rana Pratap

Baba was confident to take power within no time and rule and reform the country. He talked of bringing crores of rupees from abroad. Nobody knows where the INA treasure is entrusted.

On 15th August 1967 when Baba expressed His desire to go for a long walk both of us climbed to Vidyapith and reached Chunni. He was exhausted and squatted. We were having the aerial view of our island. Baba exclaimed, “Suresh is it not too much for a man of seventy’ There by He unknowingly confirmed his age which was the same as that of Netaji.

Baba allowed me to take some priceless photographs that are my treasure.

Netaji had a habit of writing with pencil. The whole constitution of Provisional Government was written by pencil. Baba’s letters written to me in his own hand are in pencil and His handwriting tallies with that of Netaji.

Netaji’s yearning for ‘Panchvati’ is well known and Baba created ‘Panchvati’ in Ashram.

Both Netaji and Baba loved gardening and tended roses especially. Both played badminton. Both used to give Bedha, take Surjarashmi and were best cooks.

The list of points of similarity between Baba and Netaji will be too long. However the salient points referred here may suffice to indicate how rich is my credit side.

Debit Side

1.     I was immature and hence committed blunders in behaviour.

2.     I told Shomu to take education first.

3.     I should not have written a letter to Salil Mittra in casual manner.

4.     In spite of Gitamasi’s constant persuasion I should not have allowed her to proceed to Calcutta from Melghat.

5.     But for Prabhakar and Chandrashekhar I wanted to put complete evidence before the world. They told me that although it was my thesis and its result, it would be stabbing in the back of His Holiness who loved you so much. It definitely appealed to my conscience.

6.     My blunder of appearing before Khosla Commission and then refusal to disclose evidence and whereabouts as per letter of Ashram to my Principal, I adhered to Baba’s caution and warning in spite of Khosla’s threat to arrest me. Niharedudada was Bose family’s lawyer and warned me not to depose before Khosla.

7.     My blunder to release press note and publish facsimile of handwriting. However, nowhere I have mentioned name, person or place of Netaji in exile.

8.     My mistake of giving more importance to Nation than Hero. This was emotional blunder, which is now named as treachery. This was the outcome of sheer disgust about fake inquiry of Khosla.

It so happened that in the history of a Nation the Parliament appoints only one inquiry commission. In case of mystery of Netaji the Government appointed fraudulent Shah Nawaz Commission. Then on public demand about the absurdity of Shah Nawaz, second one-man commission of inquiry was appointed with disgusting Justice Khosla as Chairman. Khosla headed many commissions and always gave favourable reports to the Government. He was almost a purchased man of the Government. I foolishly thought that there should be some evidence in public record, which if overlooked by Khosla, should open the eyes of the nation, public, and scholarly historians. Except the post accidental recent date and a small extracted excerpt of handwriting I have not mentioned identity of anyone who has written it. Mr.Khosla spent lakhs of rupees of the public exchequer and now he was in trouble as to how to avoid the handwriting published in the Nagpur Times. If he wants to give favourable report to the Government, he will have to wave off the Nagpur Times and face the consequences in future. The Commission was to submit its report in one year and more than four years have elapsed but the report is not submitted.

9.     In my utter folly, I took a wrong hint in Baba’s utterance,” I cannot do anything. I am under Divine oath.” I wrongfully thought that unless He was dragged in the worldly affairs he would not come out of His own. I surmised this all due to Baba’s note. “Why Subhash Chandra failed”. God alone knows who is that Gorakhnath who can fetch Guru Machindranath entangled in women’s kingdom? Baba’s letter to magistrate of Okhimath  ‘not to play with Divine Fire’, His utterance to thrash Home Minister of U.P. with hunter due to Sidholi incident, sending me to Dr.Gairula who was with Netaji in Rome and Vienna, etc. put my brain out of order. I foolishly and unknowingly joined perfidious coterie of Major Satya Gupt, Haripad Bose, Gope Gurbax, Uttamchand Malhotra and Hiralal Dixit.

10.     My major loss is that I could have written a book on my research findings and full proof evidence of Netaji’s survival after 1945. I could have earned lakhs of rupees from the book and name and fame also.  I can do this even today. However my reverence for Baba refrained me from doing so.

11.     My greatest loss and ignominy is that people feel I played a stunt for publicity. Parents feel I lost lot of money. However, I feel I discovered ‘The Treasure Island ”.

Well. It is time to go to hospital. My eldest brother Ramesh is admitted there. He met an accident while driving car and lost three fingers of his right hand. Fortunately God saved his life. On 14th Dec.’73 he missed death narrowly. Otherwise this would ha0076e been worst blow to parents and irreparable crisis for family.

Now I epitomize total loss and gain in cash and kind of my balance sheet.

My earning is immense and loss negligible. Therefore Shaulmari Ashram has to pay nothing to me. On the contrary I am indebted to Shaulmari Ashram. I cannot repay the debt in this life. With my meager reasoning I can imagine the major hindrance in starting the work is conflict, the great conflict, the worst conflict of mind. The conflict is about the past, present and future reaction. Baba spent fifteen years in rigorous ‘Sadhana’, ‘Tapashcharya’ and ‘Bharat Bhraman’. He was about to come out but we spoiled His plan and made it topsy-turvy. I sincerely pray God almighty, as you referred, with new innovation may His work see the light of the day, may He come out for salvation of the suffering humanity, may he wipeout astronomical corruption, may he ignite the spark of austerity, honesty and just life for bright future of the nation nay world, may He bring revolution in education, journalism and politics, may he take we idiots like me under his wings.

With my wife, two daughters and a son I am leading most peaceful life on three acres’ farm. I am busy in gardening. I get supreme bliss by becoming one with nature. I hope and wish this letter closed our account forever. This is my explicit confession.

Enclosure– A copy of a letter of Bhattacharjee. He may be cautioned not to indulge in treachery like me.

P.S. If you feel I am a hypocrite and my balance sheet is an antic then obtain for me a green signal to do what I wish. I assure you I can play a colossal havoc with Supreme Court, Justice Khosla, the Government of India and Japan, with people of our country nay the world at large.

So far I have done enough foolishness without permission. There are two paths open for me. Either my Guru may permit me to do as I wish or I go in hibernation.

With reference to your letter to Shri R.K.Roy – a letter that states about your assets etc in abstract terms, I feel very strongly to tell you that in consideration of your extremely morbid and stupid perversion to think of the birth of Chinu in terms of sexual intercourse and to narrate your cussed stupidity to many of those related to the Ashram, you should have had at least the modicum of the sense of shame to speak in your letter so loftily, of course, in your own stupid way about his Holiness. We feel ashamed that we had ever any relationship with such a perverted creature as you, quite incapable of understanding –- nay even thinking – of any deep and lofty principle of the dimension of deeper consciousness. It was only a deep feeling of compassion for you that was responsible on the part of His Holiness not to kick you off from His association when He realised first what a stupid creature you were. But to have compassion for a totally unworthy person is a matter that is bound to result in accelerating pain. But the chapter is closed and here is end.

Dear Shri Romendra Kumar Roy,

After deep contemplation I could not keep quiet but to give reply to your last letter. The reference about Chinuma’s birth left very deep scar on my innermost heart. You know, I might have behaved childish at times but all throughout I was candid and outspoken and never used double standard or backbiting. To err is human and I am no exception to it.

However allow me to sum up about your reading: “It is the meanest of mankind who alone can think about it as sexual perversity. An iota of reason or logic would refrain any being from such perverse thinking.”

Unfortunately there was no reply to my conviction and identity of His Holiness. About Khosla Commission my prophecy has tuned true. I got the copy of his report which is none else but gymnastic feat of Mr.Khosla converting falsehood into truth and vice versa with summersaults of casting aspersions on Bose family and nonetheless on Netaji himself.

I appeal to you and beg humbly to plead my case before His Holiness to permit me to have ‘Darshan’ only once when He can kick me or kill me or else allow me to be free lance of my conscious so that I can proceed to Delhi to flabbergast the Parliament through my friend who is Member of the Parliament, He will rip open Khosla before his report is tabled on the floor of the Parliament for discussion.

I beg not to form biased opinion and prejudiced mind full of misunderstanding. God forbid! I may not be that mean and downfallen.

Yours is the only surviving link and I am banking on the last straw on the camel’s back.

Hoping for an early reply

Suresh

P.S. Kindly convey my sincere Pronams to His Holiness and Namaskar to Shri Dada and Gitamasi. (Note, I knew not about Gita’s demise.)

Shri Vasantrao Oak was seniormost R.S.S. leader working in Delhi since 1934. He was husband of my wife’s aunt. I wrote him a letter informing that I spent years with Subhash Chandra Bose from 1965 onwards and that I had full evidence about him including handwriting. He should please contact Atal Behari Vajpayee and apprised him. If he agreed to shoot out in the Parliament, I would rush to Delhi with full evidence. This should be done before the Khosla Report is tabled before the House. I received no response.

Dear Shri Ramenbabu.

Your pungent telegram long ago at hand. The Parliamentary session ended without discussion of the issue. Warning received just in time before I could plunge headlong in the infernal fray. Thanks for timely check. Being operated myself I was helpless. The Parliament opens on February 17th. I am not a man who would stab in the back. Remember so far I have not uttered a word about Ashram. A coffin would not deter me then what of cudgels? However, against His wishes I do not feel like doing anything. Let Nation go to dogs!  If he prefers solitude and seclusion, who can compel him to enter mundane affairs? His interior knows me very well but the exterior refutes.

As per His teachings I shall try to convert present failure into stepping-stone sooner or later. I was happy to note that there is a ray of hope if I show corrective tendencies. Is it not?

Physicians have advised a month’s bed rest. I am helpless.

As and when, if at all, he feels like permitting me to come, I am eagerly waiting.

Wish you all happy prosperous and active New Year.

Suresh

P.S. Mother would not give me food and father would not allow me to beg. That is my present condition.

‘A day of reconciliation’

Shri Baba knew that I had been to Calcutta on way to see Him at Dehradun. However, when Gobind Shah narrated about the sad demise of Gita I was shocked and dazed and returned to Amravati. Gobindbabu personally narrated this to Baba immediately. As a sequel to it Baba dictated the following long telegram. Observe like Netaji, Baba was in the habit of putting degrees of the receiver of the telegram. Moreover since the telegram related to money matter it was sent on the address of my college so that my parents or brother should not know about it. The express telegram of the efficient postal department was received on 28th that is three days later.

Dear Shri Budhiballabhji.

My respect to you. I was to come to you with Ramen and Gobind from Calcutta. However appalling news of sad demise of Gitamasi compelled me to return home. It was unimaginable catastrophe.

As a New Year’s gift I want to see Chinu and Anu especially the latter whom I had not fortune to see. Possibly Chandrashekhar and I intend to come for Baba’s ‘Darshan’ and wish to start on Saturday the 11th January. Will you be kind enough to show this letter through Dada to Baba and send me a telegram if permission is granted?

I have enlarged a big photograph of Gitamasi that I shall personally present to Chinudi and Anudi, if His Holiness permits.

Another problem kindly discuss on my behalf with Dada. My friend Shri Jambuwantrao Dhote is a member of the Parliament. He is pressing me hard to give him my notes on Khosla Report but as I have previously vowed and informed His Holiness that I have shut myself from everything. I cannot give my important analysis of Khosla Report without His permission. Mr.Dhote, a bachelor, is elected from Forward Block. He expressed his desire to have ‘Darshan’ of His Holiness. If permission is given I shall brig him with me from Delhi. He is there as session of Parliament is in swing from 5th January.

While giving telegram to me simply write ‘ GREEN SIGNAL’ which means Chandrashekhar and I are permitted. If you write ‘GREEN SIGNAL WITH SHIVAJI’ I shall take it granted that Dhote too is permitted. Due to emergency proclamation of minimum words are better for me.

I am sorry for the trouble I am giving you. Hope to hear from you before long.

With my Pronams to Shri Baba and Namaskar to Shri Dada and love to chinuma and Anuma (knew not about Tanu), wishing you all a happy, prosperous, healthy New Year. With regards

Yours affectionately
