Snippets and Tit Bits

Following are snippets from His Holiness Shri Saradanandaji, the founder of Shaulmari Ashram. But for Netaji who could say this?

1.         “ I was sitting under a tree reading newspaper in Tihiri (Garhwal). I was shocked to read sad demise of Sarat Chandra Bose. Suresh. My whole world collapsed.”

2.              “ Oh! Power is a minute’s job.”

3.            “ Subhash slept only once with Emilie.”

4.             I asked Baba, “ Will children come in the way of starting work?”  He immediately blurted,  “ No. Not at all.”

5.             “ We will have to freeze one-third assets of all.”

6.             “ I read palm of Chinu when she was two weeks old. Baba observed, “Suresh, Chinu will be red in color. Don’t you know Subhash was called Rangakakababu because of his red colour of skin?”

7.             When Vidyaratanji queried about girls, Baba said, “At proper time Suresh will disclose about them to the world.”

1.        Baba to all present, “Suresh did ‘Shaitani.’ (Devilish) He published my handwriting in the Nagpur Times. In a way it is good for the future. It is the only piece of evidence before the world.”

2.        Shri Baba, “Do you know Suresh? Jaya Prakash Narayan married with Prabhavati only to honour Gandhiji’s word but he never slept with her.”

3.        “ Koirala brothers sacrificed their life for Jaya Prakash Narayan. They were jailed and exiled for eighteen years. What Jaya Prakash did for them?”

4.        “ Maharashi Patwardhan of Pune wanted to purchase Berar from Nizam of Hyderabad. The Nizam was under heavy debt to pay the huge charges to British, as compensation of keeping the British Army to defend his state. Nizam was for name’s sake. His Prime Minister Salarjung was all-powerful. The bargain was fixed through Salarjung. Through his professor Patawardhan arranged loan from France. He wanted to start Arms Factory to liberate country. The British came to know about the plot and conspired to murder Salarjung. ”

12.           “ Tilak wanted to start Arms Factory in Nepal. The king of Nepal backed out fearing the British wrath and losing the kingdom.”

1.         “Tilak used to add fuel in a big copper vessel to heat water for bath of the guests.”

2.        “Vijaya Laxmi used to squat on the floor in Anand Bhawan with her ‘Paan Dibba.’ (Betel – Box) She used to prepare ‘paan’ and touching her left hand to elbow of right hand offer ‘paan’ to guests. Being westernized Jawahar did not like her behaviour.”

3.        Immediately after Nehru’s death, on the very day, Baba dictated a note – Nehru had greatest greatness and meanest meanness. It was to be released to the Press.

4.        Baba gave a short note on Arab-Israel war.

5.        Baba enquired, “ Who is this Yeshwantrao Chavan?” Who is Lata Mangeshkar? She has a Divine Spark”

6.        “Suresh, you used the word ‘brain washing.’  It is troubling me since long. Explain what it means. I answered all his queries—Chavan was of M.N.Roy group. Lata’s father Dinanath was a famous singer. Word brain washing came in Korean War. It seemed that Baba was not conversant with details of events after 1945.

7.        “If Sheikh Abdulla is a traitor, shoot him first and institute inquiry later.”

8.        He told a story of how Aurangjeb was suspicious creature right from childhood. When Dara, his elder brother, called him in library he stood at the door telling him that he would shut him inside to grab the throne.

9.        “Suresh. See that this Bose’s daughter Anita is absolved from stigma.”

10.     “Dijen is a simple boy.”

11.     “Don’t you know Sarat Chandra Bose was guardian, mentor, financer of Subhash? It was Subhash who dragged him into politics.

12.     “Kaka Kalelkar and Mahadev Desai are the only two persons who understood Gandhiji. I want to write a book on Gandhiji.”

13.     After walking about four miles and climbing three hundred feet in the Himalayas on 15th August 1967, exhausted Baba exclaimed, “Suresh is it not too much for a man of seventy?”

14.     When referred Biyani, Patwardhan, Fisher, Yagee Pritam Singh he spontaneously questioned who? Brijlal, Acchut, Louis, Sheelbhadra and colonel respectively. How could a remote Sanyasi know these people unless he was Subhash Chandra Bose?
